IT Systems Manager (Full-Time)

The Brownsburg Public Library is seeking an energetic, problem-solver who is detailed-oriented and can manage multiple projects. The chosen person will lead projects which include installation and training of hardware and software as well as maintaining the existing systems. The Technology department at BPL is a single full-time position with support from administration, managers, staff members and outside consultant, so the ideal candidate should have great communication and collaboration skills. The IT Systems Manager is responsible for the day-to-day operations and maintenance of the Library equipment and software throughout the facility; assisting with training for the public and staff; and is responsible for the staff training and management of the Creative Media Lab. The manager also develops the Technology Plan with the Assistant Director for approval by the Director and the Library Board. The position is full time (37.5 hours), non-exempt who reports to the Assistant Director.

Required education: Bachelor's Degree

Experience: Polaris Integrated Library Systems experience, experience in software training or speaking skills, and experience in inventory management preferred; hardware repair experience; list library software experience and other software experience

Salary: $15 per hour

Information Services Assistant (Part-Time, (Children’s Outreach Coordinator)

Description/Responsibilities: The Brownsburg Public Library is seeking an energetic and imaginative person with a love for children for a part-time (29.5 hours) Information Services Assistant position. This position will work to coordinate outreach to area schools, daycares, and preschools, as well as occasionally helping with school age programs in-house. The successful candidate will have a strong commitment to customer service for all library patrons, be an advocate for youth in the library, as well as be able to promote a love of reading in children of all ages and in varied situations. In addition, this individual will work at both the Adult and Children’s desks to serve our community with high quality reference and technology assistance. Hours will include 1 night a week and one weekend per month. This is an excellent position for those working on their MLS or library certification courses, or who are just beginning a path to children’s library work.

Qualifications: Librarian Level 5 -- 60 hours of college or associate's degree plus 9 semester hours of required library science courses. Can work on library science courses after hiring, but must enroll in order to be granted the position.

Salary: $11/hour
